She should not be there. She should not pretend this speech is her own writing. It is not her writing, clearly. She practiced her tone of voice and facial expressions for many times in front of a mirror. Prepped in every detail. How dare you speak like that!
But no: We need to feel guilty. We need to feel guilty. She is angry at us all !!!
She will not make me feel guilty for three reasons. First, I can see through the acting. It is fake and thus abusive. Second, I will NOT speak my mind about what I think of her, because she is still a child. Speaking my mind about what I think of her, it would make me feel guilty afterwards. This is why they use children for telling a story. You can’t respond, not really. Putting a child in that position, is silencing a debate and using a child for it. Third, I have noticed how often younger generations (today’s 20-something’s) and developing countries care less about the environment compared to most citizens in the West, when it comes down to simple actions to limit once’s footprint, for instance separating garbage. Their left-wing yelling is aimed at asking politicians to take action and increase government control. And our politicians, they just use the environment as an excuse to implement else-wise unpopular legislation. Please yellers, start with yourself and your own behavior.
Greta is praised for speaking out. Greta is called “the best speech of 2019”. I just see a child who has been helped to sell out herself. It is sad. She is part of a movement of emotional sellers. It makes me NOT want to do something to limit my environmental footprint (which I do work on). I do not want to be part of a movement that is using aggressive language and behavior to make others feel guilty. When I was a kid, we started small. We helped gather paper, glass, and save energy . We asked polite for help and encouraged others to bring in paper too. Planted a tree. Picked up litter.
Our planet is threatened by spoiled and demanding people like Greta, because of all this energy she has wasted in her anger en guilt trap. It is energy that should no could be better used by being an example. She is not. She is an actor who sells anger and still claims victim-hood. A bully kiddo. How dare you. This rude attempt to take away responsibilities of the individual and demand governments to take more action.
Let us ignore the emotional blackmailing career environmentalists. Let us simply work on our footprint in a way we ourselves feel comfortable doing, by limiting waste and energy usage. The next step (but only after that), is improving tools we use (like cars and heating systems).
